Drawing on personal stories and statistics from across and beyond the Trussell community of food banks, A Taste for Change tackles themes including rising living costs, employment, community, and the relationship between poverty and mental health.
Get an insight into the challenges that people who find themselves turning to a food bank for help are often facing, while also exploring what kinds of change are needed if we are to become a society that treats everyone as if they really matter.

A Taste for Change is published by Policy Press on 29th September 2026. It is available now, via the Policy Press website and through all major bookshops.
Discussion guide
We're keen to spark more conversations about what it will take to build a future where everyone can afford the essentials.
To help get those conversations started, we've produced a discussion guide that explores some of the key ideas from A Taste for Change. You can adapt them to use at a book group, in a youth group, with your colleagues or students, at a dinner party or another event.
You can also hear more about the key ideas in A Taste for Change on the Transforming Society podcast.
